Who needs this course?


ImageThis course is aimed at people who work, or wish to work, as Workplace Health and Safety Officers at a services based workplace, in accordance with the Workplace Health and Safety Act 1995.Organisation with 30 or more workers are required to appoint a Workplace Health and Safety Officer. This course is also suitable for Supervisors and Managers as they have a responsibility for workers and are required to understand the requirements of the Workplace Health and Safety Act 1995.



Course Outline:



  • Satisfy the requirements to qualify as a Workplace Health and Safety Officer

  • Identify industrial hazards and priorities industrial hazards

  • Complete an inspection/assessment report in accordance with best practice

  • Make recommendations from findings of inspection/assessment report

  • Consult with relevant parties regarding compliance issues relating to statutory requirements

  • Assist relevant parties in the implementation of control measures

  • Monitor and review the effectiveness of control measures



Competency Units:


WHSO/06 – Manage Health and safety in a services based  workplace.


Prerequisite:


Students must have received competency in the WHSO core module.
